Paul and his World
PAUL AND HIS WORLD
Stephen TomkinsThe 'lens crafted by Paul' (p.10) is hugely influential in the way we know and worship Jesus as Lord and God. This is an excellent introduction to St Paul's life, ministry, theology and writings, to the cultures, life styles and expectations in which he lived and to the establishment and expansion of Christianity.
The apparent discrepancies between 'the Acts of the Apostles' and Paul's writings are investigated. We learn about contemporary scholarship in Pauline studies, which is evaluated fairly, and presented intelligently.
Often, readers are invited to draw their own conclusions. The book is attractively laid out, with relevant pictures, decent maps, explanatory insets, a short bibliography, and adequate index.
