Scripture as Spirituality
Richard RohrA new edition of a classic text on spirituality
The subtitle ‘scripture as spirituality’ gives us an intriguing insight of how this book is shaped. At first glance I wondered was Richard Rohr stating the obvious. However, as I read, so began a deep journey of new understanding with familiar pieces of scripture and how to use them to relate more closely to our Creator who dwells deep within each of us. I learned how God has been using characters from both the Old and New Testaments to reinforce His teachings of love for us who are slow to listen. Can all this be true? I have known about being made in the image of God, but Richard Rohr has taken me further. I have learned much: about power; why Jesus had to die; that it is ok not to know everything (and how even that brings me closer to the mystery of God). He made me like Him, in all ways. That brings responsibility, love, freedom, peace and trust, whether I like it or not. And I like it.
