Life Stories from Non-normative Christians
Chris GreenhoughAn analytical guide into the spiritual and sexual experiences of LGBT Christians
As part of the SCM research series, this book is Greenhough’s doctoral thesis, and provides an analytical guide into the spiritual and sexual experiences of ‘non-normative’ Christians, that is, those generally designated LGBT. The research concept of an ‘undoing’ methodology allows an intuitive approach in order to contribute to inclusive policies in gender and sexuality in relation to religion. It is a well-written, interesting and sympathetic treatment, but I failed to find material of any major pastoral importance to those Christian ministers who want to promote and to practice a fully inclusive approach within their church communities. It is also too expensive to recommend for individuals, but theological libraries should consider acquiring a copy.
