Jenny Macpherson
Role: CRC Associate Secretary
Alternative contact for all Reader matters except education, including "The Reader" magazine, capitation fees, data for In Memoriam and Gazette, merchandise sales & diocesan statistics.
Have lived in Kent all my life and for over 40 years in my present parish, St Peter and St Paul, Tonbridge. Educated in an Anglican convent school and then read Zoology at King's, London. Employment years divided between family and teaching Biology at secondary level.
Admitted and Licensed as a Reader in 1991 and, in a parish which has four places of worship, have been given a fair share of liturgical ministry, including taking funerals. Have served the parish in other ways too; part-time Administrator for 3 years, on PCC and a Deanery Synod Rep., and now on groups developing schools' work, liturgy and green projects in the churchyard. Am Chaplain to the local area Guild of Vergers and Deanery Synod Treasurer. In 2002 was invited to be Rochester Diocesan Warden of Readers and served as such for four and a half years, an experience which has helped me to understand the workings of CRC and the needs of dioceses and individual Readers.
My interests and commitments are to a large family including Grand and Great Grand children some of whom are in China. Am very keen on natural history and do all possible to sustain biodiversity in a rather too large garden (this excuses what some would see as untended areas!). I am a volunteer with kent Wildlife Trust. |
